Ownership answers who is accountable for the rule, not merely who typed the document. By default an active Standard must have a named human owner reached through a responsibility Role — the ownership gate. An administrator can relax that for the whole organization under Administration → Governance.
Axis
A dimension of organizational responsibility.
Role
The responsibility node that owns the subject.
Holder
The named person accountable for the Standard.
Choose the Role first
Select the Role whose mandate covers the subject. A folder or department label is not a substitute: folders organize Sources, while Roles carry responsibility and visibility.
Confirm the holder
The owner must resolve to a person. If the selected Role has no suitable holder, correct the responsibility map or choose the responsible parent Role. Do not publish under a placeholder name.
What ownership allows
Ownership makes accountability visible and participates in the governance-seat model. It does not automatically grant every person in the Role access to edit the Standard. Editing remains governed by access roles and collaboration permissions.
When responsibility changes
Move ownership to the new Role or holder as part of the organizational change. Existing revisions keep their historical record; the Standard’s current ownership should reflect who is responsible now.
