Governance settings control organization-wide policy that shared product areas consume. Governance is a platform layer, not a top-level app: Standards, Knowledge, Agents, and Administration use the same ownership and responsibility model.
Organization policy
Sets the strongest shared requirement.
Product workflow
Applies that requirement where people work.
Ownership evidence
Shows the accountable Role and holder.
Set ownership requirements
Choose where named ownership is required according to implemented tenant policy. All four dials — Standards, Knowledge, Agents, Areas — are configurable, and Standards is on by default and marked Recommended. The page states how far each one reaches: the Agents dial is stored intent that no publishing path consults yet, and the Knowledge dial is consulted on one path rather than on every create and edit.
Understand the effect
Policy caps or requires behavior across product surfaces. A local editor cannot widen beyond organization policy. Changes should take effect through the shared resolver rather than separate rules in each app.
Keep responsibility current
Ownership requirements only work when Axes, Roles, and holders reflect the organization. Use responsibility structure for structural editing and People for the readable map.
Roll out with existing content in mind
Stricter policy can reveal resources with missing ownership. Review the affected inventory and assign accountable people before expecting every publication or edit path to succeed.
